AFCAT 01/2025: Your Gateway to a Prestigious Career in the Indian Air Force

The Indian Air Force (IAF) has announced the Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) 01/2025, offering a remarkable opportunity for aspirants to join its esteemed ranks. This recruitment drive aims to fill 336 vacancies across various branches, including the Flying Branch, Ground Duty (Technical), and Ground Duty (Non-Technical). The online application process is scheduled from December 2, 2024, to December 31, 2024. Vacancy Details

The AFCAT 01/2025 recruitment encompasses a total of 336 vacancies distributed as follows:

  • Flying Branch: 30 vacancies (21 for men and 9 for women)
  • Ground Duty (Technical): 189 vacancies (148 for men and 41 for women)
  • Ground Duty (Non-Technical): 117 vacancies (87 for men and 30 for women)

These positions are further categorized based on specific roles within each branch. 

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for AFCAT 01/2025, candidates must meet specific eligibility requirements:

  1. Nationality: Must be a citizen of India.

  2. Age Limit:

    • Flying Branch: 20 to 24 years as of January 1, 2026 (born between January 2, 2002, and January 1, 2006). Upper age limit relaxation up to 26 years for candidates holding a valid and current Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA (India).
    • Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) Branches: 20 to 26 years as of January 1, 2026 (born between January 2, 2000, and January 1, 2006).
  3. Marital Status: Candidates below 25 years of age must be unmarried at the time of commencement of the course.

  4. Educational Qualifications:

    • Flying Branch: Minimum 50% marks each in Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level and a graduation degree (minimum three years) in any discipline with at least 60% marks or equivalent. Alternatively, a BE/B.Tech degree (four years) with at least 60% marks or equivalent.
    • Ground Duty (Technical) Branch: Minimum 50% marks each in Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level and a four-year degree in Engineering/Technology.
    • Ground Duty (Non-Technical) Branches:
      • Administration and Logistics: Graduation in any discipline with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
      • Accounts: B.Com degree with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
      • Education: MBA/MCA or MA/M.Sc degree in specific subjects with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.

Application Process

The application process for AFCAT 01/2025 is entirely online. Candidates must register and submit their applications through the official AFCAT portal: afcat.cdac.in. The application window opens on December 2, 2024, and closes on December 31, 2024. An application fee of ₹550 plus GST is applicable for all candidates, payable online during the application submission. 

Selection Process

The selection process for AFCAT 01/2025 comprises the following stages:

  1. Written Examination: The AFCAT online test assesses candidates' knowledge in General Awareness, Verbal Ability, Numerical Ability, and Reasoning.

  2. Air Force Selection Board (AFSB) Interview: Shortlisted candidates undergo further testing at one of the AFSB centers, evaluating Officer Intelligence Rating, Psychological Tests, Group Tests, and Personal Interview.

  3. Medical Examination: Candidates who pass all previous stages will undergo a comprehensive medical assessment to ensure fitness for service.

  4. Merit List: Final selection is based on performance in the above stages and subject to medical fitness.

Training and Benefits

Selected candidates will undergo training at the Air Force Academy, with durations varying based on the branch:

  • Flying and Ground Duty (Technical): 62 weeks
  • Ground Duty (Non-Technical): 52 weeks

During training, flight cadets receive a stipend of ₹56,100. Upon commissioning, officers enjoy numerous benefits, including furnished accommodation, comprehensive medical cover, subsidized loans, and a contributory insurance coverage of ₹1.10 crore. They also have access to sports facilities and adventure activities, promoting a balanced and enriching lifestyle.
